Acknowledgements

The author would like to thank everyone who contributed to the creation of this report.

Community mapping is a relatively new and challenging means of communicating data. To date, very few social researchers have adopted it. We are grateful for the support and expertise of the team of research analysts from Community Learning Studies at HRDC, in particular Margo Craig Garrison and Chistina Norris, and the research coordinators of the other UEY sites. We are grateful for the collaboration and the timely advice provided by Kathleen Flanagan Rochon and Carolyn Simpson, of the PEI Children's Secretariat. We also wish to extend our thanks to all the Early Childhood Educators on Prince Edward Island who were always open and welcoming in our endeavors to collect the data for this project. We appreciate the support provided by Cindy Donahue and Sonya Corrigan and the members of Early Childhood Development Association of PEI. Their tireless efforts to help give children in the community the best possible start are impressive and inspiring.

We wish to thank the Eastern Coorperative Health Organization for their assistance with the design and development of the on-line tools used in the data collection. As well we extend our thanks to the Provincial Departments of Health and Social Services, and Education and Development for sharing their resources and offering their support and expertise throughout the project.
