Sustainable Development Strategy

Human Resources Development Canada's Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS) includes the department's concrete goals and plans of action to integrate sustainable development into its policies, programs and operations.

According to the Auditor General's Act, this strategy is to be reported on annually and updated every three years.

HRDC's SDS-II identifies four key goals:

  1. Strengthen HRDC's capacity to move forward on a path to susutainable development (SD);
  2. "Green" HRDC's internal operations;
  3. Participate with other departments to gain a better understanding of the social policy dimensions of SD and its policy implications, and to build a knowledge base in various SD-related issues of interest to HRDC;
  4. Build sustainable development into HRDC's corporate culture
