New Horizons for Seniors - What is the application process?

Once or twice a year, Human Resources and Social Development Canada will issue a Call for Applications. The Call for Applications will specify the funding priorities and the application deadlines for each province and territory. Application deadlines may vary in each province and territory. Applications postmarked after the deadline will not be considered for funding.

How is my application assessed?

Applications are reviewed by the appropriate regional office. Each proposal must meet eligibility criteria and must respond to at least one of the funding priorities that are set for each Call for Applications.

Eligible applications will be assessed by the New Horizons for Seniors Review Committee responsible for the province or territory. The Committee will assess and rank proposals based on program objectives, and provincial/territorial priorities.

The Application Guidelines explain the assessment factors that Review Committees consider when reviewing applications.

The Review Committee will then submit its recommendations to Human Resources and Social Development Canada for a final decision.

How will I be informed of the decision about my application?

All applicants will be advised of the final decision by letter; normally within four months of the application deadline.

Successful applicants will receive a final report outline (RTF format) with their letter. Organizations must submit the report within two months of the project completion date and send it to the New Horizons for Seniors office in their province or territory.
