The Labour Market Information Web site has several different menu options located down the left hand side of the screen. In each of these menu options there is a similar search feature. To begin, you must select a province or territory. In few sections however you will even have the option of choosing Canada. |

After choosing a province or territory you must activate the "Go" button. By clicking on the "Go" button you are telling the system to go and get the list of areas for the particular province or territory that you have requested. The system will load a list of available areas from which you are able to choose. |

Search for Occupational Information
There are several sections on the LMI Web site that contain information related to an occupation. These sections are: Build Your Occupational Profile, Job Descriptions, Job and Skill Requirements, Employment Prospects, Wages & Salaries, Who Hires, Where to Get Training and Compare Occupations. All of these sections have an additional occupational search feature. There are 4 different methods for searching for occupational information. These methods are: |

Occupation Title
This search is based on a keyword entered by the user. To use the search you must first ensure that this radio button is selected and then you must enter the occupational title or keyword into the 'Search for' box. You must then select or click on the 'Search' button. |

This search will produce a table that contains all of the possible occupational groups in the system that contain the word or words that you have entered. However the exact words or title may not appear. For example if you use this search and type in nurse, the system will produce a table that contains the occupational group forestry technologists and technicians. This may appear to be an error however there is a common title that is not being displayed which is nursery technician, forestry. This title does contain the word nurse and therefore it does meet the search criteria and will be displayed. |

Occupations where content is available
This search feature lists occupations that contain information in the particular LMI Web menu item that has been accessed and for the specific geographic area selected. |

To use this search you must first select this radio button. Then you must select or click on the 'Search' button. You should not enter anything in the 'Search for' box because with this search you are asking the system to tell you which occupations contain information. |

National Occupational Classification or NOC Code
The user can enter a 4-digit NOC if they are familiar with this coding system. This search tends to be used by many career and employment counsellors who are extremely knowledgeable about the labour market information produced. |

To use this search you must first select this radio button and then enter a valid 4-digit NOC code into the 'Search for' box. You must then select or click on the 'Search' button. |

Job type
This search is based on the skill type categories of the National Occupational Classification coding system and offers a different approach to looking for occupational information. This option allows you to search by a listing of broad sectors or industry groupings such as health occupations or trades, transport and equipment operators. |

To use this search you must first select this radio button. Then you must select or click on the 'Search' button. You should not enter anything in the 'Search for' box because with this search you are asking the system to show you the list of occupations by industry groupings. |

Search for Industrial Information
The LMI Web site also contains industry information. This information can be found in the "Industrial Profiles" menu item. In this section you will need to select a province or territory, an area and an industry. There are 4 different methods for searching for industrial information. These methods are: |

This search allows the user to enter 4 to 6 digits of the NAICS code if they are familiar with this coding system. This search tends to be used by many analysts and researchers who are extremely knowledgeable about industries and the labour market information produced. |

Major Industry Group
This search is based on the broad sectors or industry categories of the North American Industry Classification System or NAICS codes. This search offers a different approach to looking for industrial information. This option allows you to search by a listing of broad industry categories such as manufacturing or accommodation and food services. |
