Aircraft Maintenance and Manufacturing provides a variety of services in support of the second largest fleet of civil aircraft in the western world and the third largest aerospace manufacturing sector in the world. The Division is responsible for ensuring that all aeronautical products built, operated or maintained under Canadian control conform to national and international standards of airworthiness. The Canadian Aviation Regulations provide the Division with the means and authority to control civil aviation activities by approving Manufacturing, Maintenance, Distributor, and Training organizations, including the licensing of aircraft maintenance personnel.

The Division's key role while delivering its services is to continually improve on the high-level of safety and public confidence in Canada's Civil Aviation community, by fostering stronger safety cultures and practices. This is achieved through safety oversight, certification, and educational activities, which include: the monitoring and certifying of aircraft, organizations and individuals through audits, inspections and surveillance activities; administering the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer program; and hosting seminars and conferences to promote and inform the aviation community.
