Upcoming Seminars

Welcome. System Safety traces its roots to the early 1980s. Mr. Justice Dubin, in his commission of inquiry into Aviation Safety, recommended that TC develop procedures in the application of safety management concepts. He also recommended developing proactive strategies for identifying and addressing aviation safety concerns before the accident happens.

Similarly the Moshansky commission recommended a proactive approach to aviation safety through a "Company Aviation Safety Management Program".

Our Vision: To be the focal point for safety intelligence in Civil Aviation, which enhances system safety.

Our Mission: To provide Transport Canada Civil Aviation and the Canadian aviation community with timely, relevant and reliable safety intelligence and guidance for managing risks.

As Safety Advisors, our Team:

  • Identifies and analyses potential safety issues and trends;
  • Evaluates safety data issues and trends to provide mitigation and preventive strategies;
  • Promotes a pervasive safety culture by sharing our safety knowledge with and by transferring increased responsibility for safety to the aviation community;
  • Uses safety intelligence to develop timely and relevant education and promotion initiatives and activities; and
  • Will work with you to develop custom safety initiatives within your organization.

The Ontario Region System Safety Team has a broad range of aviation experience, including:

  • pilots of fixed and rotary wing background
  • an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer
  • an FSS Radio Operator
  • and two program managers

Each Civil Aviation Safety Inspector looks forward to meeting with fellow aviators to work towards a safer Aviation system in Canada.
