Aviation Enforcement's mission is "To establish, administer and enforce the regulations necessary for the safe conduct of Canadian civil aviation and the prevention of accidents". The division accomplishes this by:
  • preventing unsafe practices, mainly by promoting voluntary compliance (i.e. education and publicity);
  • detecting possible violations through inspections, other inspectors, surveillance, air traffic services, airport managers and public complaints;
  • investigations which determine, establish and record the cause of the violation;
  • and deterrent action when necessary through the judicial or administrative process to prevent reoccurrence. This division is responsible for defending Ministerial Decisions either at the Civil Aviation Tribunal or in the Judiciary.

For general inquiries, please contact Linda Johns at (416) 952-0089.
