Canada Child Tax Benefit
The Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB) is a tax-free monthly payment made to eligible families to help them with the cost of raising children under age 18.

Eligibility Information
Recipients must meet the following criteria:
- be the primary caregivers of a child under age 18
- other criteria may apply
Financial Information
The CCTB payments are calculated using the following information:
- the number of children
- the province or territory of residence
- family net income
- the child's eligibility for the Child Disability Benefit (CDB)
Application Information
- The payments can be recalculated during the year if there is a change in the number of dependent children or marital status.
- Applications must be submitted by mail or in person.

Dates and Deadlines
- The CCTB is usually issued on the 20th of each month, and one week earlier in December.
- Individuals who have not received their CCTB within five business days following the date of issue should contact the Agency.
