Thematic Meetings Open to Civil Society
The Committee of Government Representatives on the Participation of Civil Society has been mandated to organise a series of Thematic Meetings open to all sectors of civil society on issues related to the FTAA negotiations. Pursuant to this mandate, the following meetings have been held and are being planned:
First Thematic Meeting: Agriculture (June 25, 2003, Sao Paulo, Brazil);
Second Thematic Meeting: Services, with particular emphasis on telecommunications, professional services, and cultural industries (September 23, 2003, Santiago, Chile);
Third Thematic Meeting: Intellectual Property Rights (January 28, 2004, Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic);
Fourth Thematic Meeting: Market Access for industrial and consumer goods, with particular emphasis on Small and Medium-size Enterprises (April 26, 2004, Atlanta, United States).
