Post-secondary studies can bring out things in people they never knew they had. (And we don't mean the ability to stay up for three nights writing a paper.)

Surrounded by peers who are engaged in the world, inspired by a flurry of new ideas, and presented with endless personal possibilities, many post-secondary students end up taking on the world with all they've got, making it a better place for all of us - while in the process becoming better students, better citizens and better leaders.

It is to celebrate and encourage these students that the Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation established the national in-course awards: to recognize and foster active citizenship, creative leadership and academic excellence in upper-year post-secondary students.

These awards are made to students who have not been previously recognized with a substantial merit scholarship. They have been specifically created for those students who, after enrolment in a post-secondary program, begin to demonstrate qualities of leadership, community involvement, innovation and academic achievement that inspire others and make their world - be it on campus or in their community - a better place to be.
