Detention Benefit
The Detention Benefit is a tax-free lump sum payment awarded to Canadian Forces (CF) members or veterans who, while serving in the Forces, were detained by an enemy or evaded capture.

Eligibility Information
Recipients must have:
- been detained by an enemy, opposing force, person or a group carrying out a terrorist activity
OR - evaded capture or escaped from any power
- other criteria may apply
