Problem:

Effective January 01, 2004, Evenflo Company Inc. has cancelled the toll-free consumer number for Canadian customers. It is understood that Evenflo has maintained their toll-free number in the USA. Canadian consumers must now use a direct dial number at their own cost to contact Evenflo. Should consumers call the 1-800 number listed on the restraint system or in the instruction manual, they will be instructed to use the direct dial number.

Background:

Historically, all manufacturing companies for children's restraint systems have provided a toll-free number for consumers to contact the Customer Relations area. There are no requirements under the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards to provide this service, but all manufacturers considered the toll-free number to be a very positive consumer relations tool.

Consumer Recourse:

The new number for Evenflo is 1-937-773-3971. This will connect the customer to the Parent Link division of the company. The hours of operation are 8:00 am EST to 7:00 pm EST. In addition, the company may be contacted via the web site at www.evenflo.com. Please note that Canadians cannot use the web site for ordering purposes at this time.

As an alternative, a consumer could return to the retail outlet and allow the retailer to contact Evenflo at the retailer's cost and then the retailer could respond to the consumer with the information requested.
