Register my Company to do Business on P.E.I.

How do I register my company to do business on P.E.I.?

A corporation that has been incorporated elsewhere may carry on business in Prince Edward Island but must register under the Extra-provincial Corporations Registration Act to do so. To obtain registration the out-of-province corporation must send a completed application form and prescribed fee to the Consumer, Corporate & Insurance Division of the Office of the Attorney General. The application form details the name of the corporation, its mailing address, head office address, local address in P.E.I. (if any), the nature of its business and its jurisdiction of incorporation. Extra-provincial firms carrying on business in P.E.I. must register under the Extra-provincial Corporations Registration Act regardless of whether they have branches or employees in the province. The fees are set out in the Extra-provincial Corporations Registration Act Fee Regulations . The fees vary depending upon the nature of the business carried on. The minimum fee is $200.00 but some corporations such as trust and loan companies pay $1,500.00. However, the vast majority of companies are required to pay only the minimum fee. All extra provincial corporations are required to renew their registration under the Extra-provincial Corporations Registration Act on a yearly basis. Approximately 2500 out of province corporations are registered under this Act each year
