International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA)

Where can I get information on the International Fuel Tax Agreement?

PEI is a member of the International Fuel Tax Agreement which provides for the centralized collection and distribution of fuel taxes between its 58 member jurisdictions.

The Agreement eliminates the requirement for interprovincial and interstate truckers to hold multiple jurisdiction licenses, and allows for quarterly filing in one jurisdiction only.

Truckers traveling out of province must register for the IFTA, display decals and carry a license or purchase Single Trip Fuel Permits. The IFTA license fee is $25.00, plus $25.00 for each set of decals (one set per truck on which decals will be affixed).

If time is an issue, a Temporary Decal Permit may be issued.
