Where can I find information about Tour the Island 2006?

What better way to experience Prince Edward Island and all it has to offer than by participating in Tour the Island 2006? With four areas of interest to choose from –Tip-To-Tip Touring, Lighthouses, Beaches and the Confederation Trail Tour – and great PEI prizes, this program is ideal for visitors and Islanders.

Confederation Trail Tour

Travel the Confederation Trail, a 270-kilometre ribbon that winds its way across Prince Edward Island's charming landscape and through our friendly towns and villages.
To participate: travel a section of the Trail and stop at any of the province's Visitor Information Centres to pick up an achievement certificate. Along with the certificate, you will receive information on Island Trails' "Rossignol Award" and a ballot for a chance to win PEI apparel. Tip-to-Tip Tour

Enjoy the vibrant beauty of Prince Edward Island as you tour Canada's smallest province from tip to tip.
To participate: begin at the East Point Lighthouse Craft Shop, tour the Island and finish at the North Cape Interpretive Centre, or vice versa. Participants receive a "Tip-to-Tip" ribbon at the beginning and a completion certificate at the end. Lighthouse Lover's Tour

Spend a quiet moment or two with a beautiful panoramic view at one of the Island's many lighthouses.
To participate: visit at least four of the seven lighthouses listed in the "Lighthouses of Prince Edward Island" brochure and have your brochure stamped at each lighthouse site. To learn more about Prince Edward Island's multitude of lighthouses, visit www.gentleisland.com/lighthouses.

Beauty and the Beach Tour

Stroll along colourful stretches of beaches, breath in salty, warm air and dip your toes in the warmest ocean waters north of Virginia.
To participate: visit at least four of eight Provincial Park beaches listed in the Tour the Island brochure, locate the Supervised Beach sign where you'll find all the necessary items to do a brass rubbing. Complete four or more rubbings, present them to Visitor Information Centre staff members and receive a special "Island" souvenir. Enter the Contest

Once you've completed at least one of four Island tours, present your stamped Lighthouse Lover's Certificate, proof of at least four Beauty and the Beach Rubbings, your Tip-to-Tip Certificate or Confederation Trail Achievement Certificate at any Provincial Visitor Information Centre to obtain a ballot to win attractive PEI apparel.

The Tour the Island promotion will run from mid-June to mid-October. Participants may enter one ballot for each of the tours completed. Ballot boxes are located in all Provincial Visitor Information Centres. Winners will be selected by a draw in early November.
