Notice:  As of September 1st, 2006 Citizenship and Immigration Canada introduced a new Simplified Application Process for Federal Economic Class which includes  Federal Skilled Workers,  Investors, Entrepreneurs, Self-Employed. 

In Mexico, the only office providing services to obtain temporary resident visas (tourists), work permits, study permits, immigrant visas and the travel document to re-enter Canada is the Immigration Section of The Canadian Embassy in Mexico City  located at Schiller 529, Col. Polanco, 11560 México, D.F.
  • Only persons that are going to submit an application or that already have  a file number and come to our offices  to submit a requested document or to attend a scheduled interview will be allowed to enter the Embassy.  
  • We observe the same public and national holidays as the rest of the Embassy.
  • Our  office is opened to the public for the following specific services granted:

                   - 09:00 to 10:00 - reception of applications.  

                   - 10:00 to 12:30 - reception of requested documents (with file number)

                   - 15 minutes before the scheduled interview.  The date and hour are indicated on the interview letter.

Exceptionally Monday, December 4th, 2006 Immigration Section will close at 11:00

  • This is a reminder that  bags, suitcases, cellular phones, beepers, laptops, PDAs, electronic agendas, radios etc. are not allowed to be brought into the Embassy for security reasons.

  • Because of the volume of inquiries, we are unable to provide full telephone operator assistance. However, you can browse this page to find information related to admission to Canada.   • If after browsing this site you cannot find an answer to your particular question or in the event that you have an application pending with us but the estimated processing times have passed, you are invited to send us an e-mail to mexico-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca or a  fax to number (55)5724-7983.  Please include your full name with your date of birth, your telephone number and/or fax number and, if available, your file number which should appear on the right top corner of the communication.   A response will be sent to you within 15 working days.
     
  • In spite of the above information, our office will not respond to communications containing questions that are responded in this website and related links indicated here, therefore, we suggest that you read carefully all information hereby contained before contacting us. Do not send multiple communications with the same question as they just delay your response.
     
  • Our office will not confirm the reception of faxes. If you use a courier service,  check the delivery of your package with the same company.
     
  • If our office has requested you to send or present an additional document, it is important to include your file number on the top right corner of the document.

The 2006 Federal Budget includes a 50 percent reduction in the $975 Right of Permanent Residence Fee. You may be entitled to a refund.

ARE YOU A CANADIAN RESIDENT BUT HAVE NOT OBTAINED CANADIAN CITIZENSHIP?

As of December 31, 2003, all permanent residents returning to Canada without a valid Permanent Resident Card will not be permitted to board their carrier. They will have to obtain a limited use travel document to re-enter Canada at a cost of $50 for each travel document. A personal interview will be required.

  • If you are a Canadian resident but have not obtained Canadian citizenship and intends to frequently leave Canada or remain outside of Canada, you may wish to review the information about permanent resident obligations.

  • If you are a Canadian resident but have not obtained Canadian citizenship and intend to return to Canada after December 31, 2003, please visit the information about the Permanent Resident Card.
