TP 14400 - Study and Reference Guide, Chief Pilot Air Taxi, CAR 703 (Helicopter). BackgroundCommercial & Business Aviation Inspectors screen and approve Chief Pilot and Operations Manager applicants. The Chief Pilot and Operations Manager Air Taxi CAR 703 (Aeroplane) (CPTAX, CPTXV, OMTAX), CAR 703 (Helicopter) (CPTIH) (CPTVH) (OMTAH) and Commuter Operations CAR 704 (Aeroplane) (CPCOM, OMCOM) examinations have been developed to establish minimum regulatory knowledge. The examinations along with oral interviews by the Principle Operations Inspector (POI) shall be required in order to approve Chief Pilot and Operations Manager applicants. Air operators will nominate Chief Pilot and Operations Manager applicants to their POI who will verify the applicants’ qualifications. The POI shall issue the applicant a Letter of Recommendation to attempt the examination. A sample letter of recommendation is attached as Appendix A. The Office of Primary Interest (OPI) for these examinations is AARXB. ActionThe Chief Pilot and Operations Manager (Aeroplane and Helicopter) examinations may be written at any of the Transport Canada offices where examinations are presently being administered as part of our ongoing examination services. There is currently no fee for the Chief Pilot and Operations Manager examinations. Chapter 13 of the Personnel Licensing Procedures Manual (TP2943) applies, including cheating and rewrite waiting periods. To be admitted to the Chief Pilot or Operations Manager examination, an applicant shall provide the invigilator with: Expiry DateThis policy is effective April 1, 2006 and will expire on inclusion in chapter 13 of the Personnel Licensing Procedures Manual.
