2004-2005 YRTE 3rd face-to-face meeting
The 2004-2005 YRTE met for the third and final meeting in Cantley, Quebec from June 17 to 21. The goals of the meeting were to make decisions for the production of their final report, make recommendations for future YRTE members and to finalize their files.
The meeting went very well considering the busy agenda they had. After two days of discussion, decisions and work, the YRTE met with the team of Environment Canada's RésEAU program, an on-line project on water data information and standards. The YRTE gave positive feedback and input on how various tools and deliverables could be positioned and meet the needs of a youth audience.
The YRTE also gave their advice on organizing a parallel youth event during the 11th Conference of Parties (CoP11) to the climate change convention in Montreal next fall.
Finally, the YRTE met with the Minister of the Environment to explain their concerns about environmental issues that they think needs to be address. The Minister welcomed them in his office and listened to what the group was expressing. The minister is eager to read the YRTE`s final report.
