The main objective of this meeting was to regroup and discuss the action plan of each working group. They also put forward additional items that they wished to pursue in their term.
The Urban Issues Group will produce a document on decentralized Infrastructure, have their saying in the New Deals for cities and will participate at the World Environmental Day workshop and the 2006 World Urban Forum.
The Sustainable Lifestyle Education Group will produce a report on pesticides, work on the Environmental Bill of Rights and suggest a way to develop a Sustainable Lifestyle Guide, similar to Canada's Food Guide.
The Natural Resources Management are the lead in discussing the Mackenzie Valley Pipeline and commenting on the Environmental Protection Act. They will also write a letters for the Mountain Caribou protection, the Fraser River Delta and the clear cutting in Nova Scotia.
The Economy and the Environment Group have commented on the 2005 Federal Budget. They are the lead in developing a partnership between the YRTE and the NRTEE and possibly have one of their members to sit at the NRTE. They will produce a document to insert environmental process to the GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
The YRTE also met with the management team of Environment Canada's Prairie and Northern Region (PNR). Numerous subjects were discussed. The YRTE working groups introduced themselves and discuss of possible working links between the YRTE and the PNR Office. They also spoke about the Mackenzie Valley Pipeline, the Clean Air Strategic Alliance, the New Deals for cities and the links between the YRTE and Environment Canada's Youth Network (ECYN).
