The YRTE establishes its priorities during their first face-to-face meeting

At their first meeting in Cantley, Québec in October 2001, the Youth Round Table on the Environment identified its key environmental areas of focus for the year.

Acknowledging that Canada faces a host of important environmental questions and recognizing the importance of the upcoming World Summit on Sustainable Development, the YRTE has chosen the following areas of emphasis for the 2001-2002 term:

• Environment & Health
• International Environmental Action
• Industry, Technology and the Environment
• Sustainability
• Conservation & Stewardship
• Climate Change
• Water
• Environmental Education

The YRTE is excited to participate in Environment Canada’s mandate of improving environmental quality for all Canadians. Working and communicating continuously throughout the year, they look forward to this year’s term!!!
