The YRTE in Vancouver with the ambassador of the environment, Mr. Gilbert ParentThe YRTE is currently addressing themes ranging from Environment & Health; the World Summit on Sustainable Development; Technology & the Environment; Conservation & Stewardship; Climate Change & Kyoto; Water and Environmental Education.

The YRTE had a busy agenda including a conference call with environment Minister David Anderson, a face-to-face meeting with Gilbert Parent, Ambassador of the Environment, a presentation on the Georgia Basin Ecosystem Initiative, a presentation by the Pacific and Yukon Region's (PYR) Young Employees Committee, a tour of the Pacific Weather Centre and a meeting with Don Fast, Regional Director General for the PYR.

They also participated in a consultation for the new Environment Canada Youth web site and had a two-day retreat to work on their progress report and to establish an action plan for the second term of their mandate.

This meeting provided them with a clearer understanding of Environment Canada’s programs, policy areas, and priorities in the Region and will undoubtedly help them to focus their input on Environment Canada’s activities.
