The five Great Lakes: Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie and Ontario, together
with the St. Lawrence River are among the world's most precious natural
resources. The Great Lakes basin is the world's largest freshwater ecosystem,
home to some 40 million Canadians and Americans, and countless species of
animals, birds, fish and plants.
