Objective
To provide skills in the management and resolution of a systemic issue to
government and industry officials.
Who should attend
Any person designated by industry and Transport Canada who has the knowledge and
skills to manage a systemic issue to successful resolution.
Description
Targeted Skills:
- Apply project management process to the management of the issue
- Define the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders in the issue
- Define the terms of reference and resource requirements for the Systemic Issue
Management Team
- Link the issue with others to ensure correct scaling and scoping
- Manage a team of subject matter experts from industry and government
- Report to senior management on courses of action and recommendations
- Select and use the appropriate resolution process: issue, problem, conflict
Cultural Change:
- Breaking out of tightly defined roles
- Acceptance and commitment to the process
Delivery Mechanism
- A series of modules on: the overall project management approach to managing
a Systemic Issue Management Team: integration of the processes of issue, problem
and conflict resolution; supporting theory, tools and processes.
- Case studies for each of the processes
Prerequisites
- Completed Aircraft Certification Specialty Course or equivalent
- Demonstrated understanding of project management practices
- Impartiality recognized by peers on the systemic issue to be managed
