General Criteria
8.1 Course length
(1)
Minimum 24 hours, subject to
Transport Canada Marine Safety (TC MS) audit.
8.2 Instructor qualifications ^
(1) Canadian command level
certificate unlimited to tonnage.
(2) Marine Safety approved teacher certification.
8.3 Equipment requirements ^
(1) Minimum of one (1) ECDIS per
two (2) students.
8.4 Student/Instructor ratio ^
(1) Eight (8) students per one (1)
instructor maximum or as determined by TC MS audit.
8.5 Course completion requirements ^
(1) full attendance (not less than
90%).
(2) proficiency demonstration through practical examination.
8.6 Proof of successful course completion ^
(1) certificate of successful
course completion from the institution on its letter head.
(2) certificate to have a serial number for identification.
(3) institution or organization to maintain record of certificates
issued.
