Chemicals guidance document #3 - Part 2 - Continuous processes

Chemicals Guidance Document #3 has been updated to include three examples of project descriptions for continuous multi-stage full-scale processes.

Example 3.4: Continuous Process for Treatment of Heavy Metal Liquid Waste, outlines some of the issues in claiming experimental development with simultaneous commercial use.

Example 3.5: Product and Process Development in Gas-Solids Fluidized Bed Linear Low Density Polyethylene Manufacturing Process, illustrates issues related to claiming plant trials where there is experimental production or experimental development with commercial production. It also compares the traditional and proxy methods of overhead calculation.

Example 3.6: Development of a Breathable Monolayer Polyethylene Film for use in the Packaging of Crusty Bakery Products, highlights some of the issues encountered in a shop floor project of a small or medium sized company where a portion of the work was done off-site.
