The Division administers seven Acts and associated Regulations dealing with the health and safety of workers, protection of the public from unsafe mechanical and electrical equipment and fuel-burning appliances in buildings, and the licensing of tradespersons in the Province.

The Division emphasizes a preventive focus to eliminate workplace and public hazards through education, training, working with employers and employees, and inspections and investigations.

The objectives of the Workplace Safety and Health Division are achieved through the work of the following service areas: inspection, prevention, hygiene, engineering, ergonomics, occupational health, mine safety, farm safety, youth initiatives and mechanical and engineering.
