An organization that pursues CED programs can qualify for registration as a charity. Community economic development involves a combination of economic and social goals. These goals are often inter-related, for example, economic development and commercial activities are undertaken to achieve social goals such as the relief of poverty or the empowerment of the community, while social goals, such as the advancement of education, are undertaken to develop the local economy.
