Recent Annulments

A charity's registration can be annulled if the charity was registered in error or ceases to be a charity solely as a result of a change in law.

Our list of charities whose registered status has been annulled since May 13, 2005 includes the charity's name, city, province, and the effective date of annulment.

An organization that appears on this list of Recent Annulments will not appear on the list of Canadian registered charities.

Official donation receipts issued before a charity's registration is annulled remain valid.

When a charity's registration is annulled:

  • the charity cannot issue official donation receipts from the effective date of annulment; and
  • the charity is no longer exempt from tax, unless it qualifies as a non-profit organization.
