From Yukon to Labrador: Understanding Northern Ecosystems

Photo: Grant GilchristCanada's North spans an enormous area – from the snowmelt lakes and whitecapped mountains of the Yukon to the rugged, wind-sculpted coast of Labrador. This vast area is extremely vulnerable to environmental changes – changes that are already having significant impacts on northern ecosystems, communities, and lifestyles.

On the Arctic breeding grounds, they face a more sweeping threat: climate change. The rate of climate change is accelerated in Canada's Arctic, and the long and short-term effects on shorebird populations could be dramatic.
