Alternative reporting programs for travellers

Alternative reporting methods include calling ahead, using a proximity card, or leaving a completed traveller declaration card in a drop-box. The method travellers can use depends on whether they enter Canada by car, plane, or boat, as well as which program they participate in.

Domestic programs such as CANPASS arise from the Customs Action Plan, while NEXUS-a program we share with the United States-is largely derived from the Shared Border Accord, the Smart Border Declaration, and the associated 30-Point Action Plan.
