Vittoria Bellissimo Works in Slovenia on an IAESTE Student Exchange

This summer I participated in an IAESTE student exchange to Maribor, Slovenia. Slovenia is a small country in Eastern Europe bordering Austria, Hungary, Croatia and Italy. It is a beautiful country, often referred to as a miniature Europe, because it contains mountains, coast, rivers, plains, etc. I worked for the Technical Faculty of the University of Maribor, creating GPS maps of Maribor, and of Ljubljana, the capital city.
Through the completion of this project, and other smaller computer projects, I became familiar with many new software programmes, and learned a great deal about GPS and the benefits of this technology. Living in Maribor itself was a wonderful experience. The people were all kind and understanding, and we were able to travel throughout Slovenia, as well as to Italy, Austria, Hungary, Croatia and Bosnia. I would recommend participation in an IAESTE exchange to all engineering and technical studies students. It is a great way to practice your trade and see new parts of the world simultaneously; a truly rewarding experience.
