What you can register for
This integrated on-line service lets you:
- register a business for a Business Number
- register for CRA programs
- register or apply for certain programs offered by:
- the Government of Nova Scotia
- the Workers' Compensation Board of Nova Scotia
- the Government of Ontario
- the Government of British Columbia
- the Workers' Compensation Board of British Columbia
CRA Programs
Along with registering for a Business Number, you can register for these accounts:
- GST/HST (goods and services tax/harmonized sales tax)
- payroll deductions
- import/export
- corporate income tax account
- This account will be automatically created once you register a business that is a corporation.
Nova Scotia programs
Along with the CRA programs noted above, you can apply for:
- a business name with the Registry of Joint Stocks
- a Nova Scotia Workers' Compensation Board account
- various Nova Scotia licenses and permits
Ontario programs
Along with the CRA programs noted above, you can:
- register or renew a business name with the Ministry of Consumer and Business Services
- apply for these accounts:
- Ontario Retail Sales Tax
- Ontario Employer Health Tax
- Ontario Workplace Safety and Insurance Board
You need to register a business name with the Province of Ontario if you are not operating under your legal name. There is a $60 registration fee which you can pay on-line using your credit card.
British Columbia programs
Along with the CRA programs noted above, you can apply for:
- a Provincial Sales Tax account
- an Incorporation of BC Companies account
