8. I am trying to access one of the Information Returns Electronic Filing options and I receive a page indicating that the system is not yet operational. Why?
9. I am trying to access one of the Information Returns Electronic Filing options but receive a technical difficulties error message.

1. Using T4 Web forms:

2. Using the T4 or T1204 Desktop application:

3. Using Internet file transfer (XML):
   1. Click "Ready to File!"
   2. Click "Internet file transfer (XML) secure web site"
   3. Complete the identification section.
   4. Enter the location of your electronic information return (eg. C:\t4Internet).
   5. Submit your electronic information return (XML Format).
   6. Keep the submission number we'll give you.
   
   
4. What if you filed but you didn't get a submission number?
   If you do not receive a submission number, call the Information Returns Electronic Filing Help Desk toll free at 1-877-322-7849..
   
   
5. You tried to file last night, but it didn't work. Is CRA's system down?
   Please see our hours of service page; you may have tried to file when the system was unavailable.
   
   
6. What if the site won't accept your electronic information return?
   Internet filing has been set up to accept a specific file format, and the Internet filing Desktop application includes instructions on how to save your return in that file format. Verify that you've properly saved your return for Internet filing by following our software's instructions.
   
   
7. Can you file your information return as an email attachment?
   No. You must follow our procedures to file over the Internet.
   
   
8. I am trying to access one of the Information Returns Electronic Filing options and I receive a page indicating that the system is not yet operational. Why?
   All the Information Returns Electronic Filing options are available from January 9th to December 13th, 2006. It is possible that you are viewing a page stored in your browser's memory. If you receive this message, you will need to clear your browser's memory and refresh the page.
   
   
9. I am trying to access one of the Information Returns Electronic Filing options but receive a technical difficulties error message.
   This message may be due to the overwhelming interest in the Internet filing program. We apologize for any inconvenience and ask that you please try again later.
