At Work

There are a number of actions that you can take at work to reduce energy consumption and emissions. Your use of office equipment and lighting and need for heating and cooling and transportation to and from work or for meetings all create air pollution.

By adopting energy conservation habits at work, you will make a big difference. Talk with your manager and colleagues to find ways to reduce the air pollution that your office creates. Encourage building operation staff to adopt more energy efficient ways of heating and cooling your building. Persuade your office manager to invest in more efficient equipment. You could even research ways for your office to buy electricity from a renewable energy supplier or install solar panels to generate a portion of your office's energy pollution-free.

Try to take time to encourage your colleagues to take action at work, at home, and on the road to reduce the air pollution that they generate. Everyone's actions are needed to make our air cleaner.

The Government of Canada is doing its part in the workplace through the Federal House in Order initiative. An integral part of this initiative is the federal government showing leadership in using renewable energy sources and practising conservation.
