Softwood lumber products export charge
On September 20, 2006, following the adoption of a Ways and Means Motion to impose a charge on the export to the United States of certain softwood lumber products, the Softwood Lumber Products Export Charge Act, 2006 received first reading in the House of Commons.
The CRA will assist exporters in preparing for the implementation of the charge and will collect any charges remitted to it prior to the passage of the proposed legislation.
