2003 National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) Data

For the 2003 reporting year, 8 173 facilities submitted a total of 33 088 substance reports for 211 pollutants. Compared with 2002, this was an increase of 3 495 (75%) in the number of reporting facilities, an increase of 8 458 (34%) in the number of reports and a decrease of 5 (1.5%) in the number of pollutants reported. The increases are due largely to changes to the reporting requirements for the Oil and Gas Sector.

Updates to the 2003 NPRI database were published on-line on October 26, 2005. Changes include corrections to facility-level data that were provided by facilities that report to the NPRI up to October 19, 2005. A Molson Canada facility located in Montreal, Quebec was included in these changes. For more information, search the NPRI query site or download the NPRI database. Preliminary 2004 NPRI data was published on August 8, 2005 date. This data is currently being reviewed by Environment Canada and will be published in the coming months.

The 2003 data presented here is current as of October 19, 2005, and may change periodically based on updates received from reporting facilities.

The 2002 National Overview series includes data as they appeared in the NPRI database on December 18, 2003.
