The Commercial Driver Registration Program

Renewing your CDRP card

You now have a choice! If it's time to renew your CDRP card, you may want to consider applying for the Free and Secure Trade (FAST) program.

If you are approved to participate in the FAST commercial driver program, you will receive a card to use at the border that will allow you to:

  • use FAST dedicated lanes (where available) in Canada and the US;
  • cross the border with accelerated customs and immigration processing; and
  • transport both Customs Self Assessment (CSA) and FAST shipments for CSA or FAST approved carriers and importers.

A FAST card is valid for a five-year period.

Is it time to renew your CDRP card?

Your CDRP card is valid for four years. To locate the expiry date on your card look on the right side of the card above the bar code, as depicted in the image below.

It takes approximately six to eight weeks to process your application.

To avoid any disruption in service, it is strongly recommended that you re-apply six months before your current card expires. If you attempt to use an expired CDRP card at the border, the carrier company will receive an Administrative Monetary Penalty (AMP).

To re-apply to the CDRP program, you must complete a new application. Applications can be obtained from your local CBSA office or downloaded in PDF format (13Kb).

When complete, send the application to:
