What is the Port Divestiture Fund?
The Port Divestiture Fund (or Port Assistance Fund) has been created to ease the transition to divestiture. It will be used to:

  • bring existing port property up to minimum safety or operating standard;
  • achieve compliance with regulatory or insurance requirements;
  • provide a lump-sum up-front payment to serve as a maintenance fund;
  • allow feasibility studies cost-shared with interested parties; and
  • assist a group of communities/interests to take over a collection of ports and save money by rationalizing infrastructure.
