Guidelines for Training Criteria

The TDG Directorate has prepared Guidelines for Training Criteria to clarify, but not replace, the training requirements contained in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations. These guidelines are intended to help employers determine which employees should be trained and what should be included in the training. The guidelines are not all-encompassing.

Sample Proof of Training Certificate

The employer must provide an employee with a Training Certificate as proof of training. A sample training certificate is available on the last page of the Guidelines for Training Criteria document.

Training Organizations

The TDG Directorate maintains a listing of organizations which provide dangerous goods training. The Directorate has not examined or certified any of the courses offered and the inclusion of this information does not imply endorsement or approval by Transport Canada or the Directorate.

Training Requirements for Aviation Carriers

Civil Aviation Division has specific training requirements for persons involved in the handling, offering for transport and transporting of dangerous goods by air.
