Web Maps / First Time Users
Getting Started
- Autodesk MapGuide Viewer must be installed on your computer in order to use the NPRI Web Maps. Click here to download it for free.
Note: Autodesk MapGuide Viewer does not support Netscape versions 6 and 7. - After downloading the application, return to the Web maps page and click on the province or territory of interest. Abbreviations for each province or territory is labelled on the map.
YT = Yukon Territory, NT = Northwest Territories, NU = Nunuvut, BC = British Columbia, AB = Alberta, SK = Saskatchewan, MB = Manitoba, ON = Ontario, QC = Quebec, NB = New Brunswick, NS = Nova Scotia, PE = Prince Edward Island, NL = Newfoundland and Labrador - Select the community of interest from the list. If you want, you can search for a specific pollutant / substance or environmental and health issue using the drop-down menus on the right. Click on the "Go" button to proceed with the search..
- You will see a map for your community with icons for each of the facilities that reported to the NPRI in 2004. A new window will open up in your browser with a link to "Industrial Releases Chemical Releases". Click on this link to get a report of pollutant releases, disposals and recycling for each facility within 25km of the community you selected.
- Depending on what is being released in the area you have selected, you may also see an extra table that shows how much of each smog-forming pollutant (criteria air contaminant) was estimated to be emitted in the area in 2000.
- To start a different community search, click on the "Back" button on your browser, from the map page.
