Purpose of the EnerGuide Fuel Consumption Label

The EnerGuide label for new motor vehicles allows consumers to compare the fuel consumption and estimated annual fuel costs of different vehicles. By choosing the most fuel-efficient vehicle that meets their needs, consumers reduce energy use in Canada.

All new passenger cars and new light-duty trucks (including vans, pickup trucks and special purpose vehicles) should carry the EnerGuide label. Vehicle manufacturers do not label new vehicles which exceed the light-duty gross vehicle weight limit of 3 855 kg (8 500 lb).

EnerGuide is the official Government of Canada mark for rating and labelling the energy consumption or energy efficiency of specific products.
