Information Printed on the EnerGuide Label
The EnerGuide label for a new vehicle should contain the
same fuel consumption information that appears in the Fuel Consumption Guide
and on the Natural Resources Canada website for that model year. However, if the fuel
consumption values for a vehicle are changed during the model year, the updated information
appears only on the label and on the Natural Resources Canada website.
The EnerGuide label has a standardized design and may be
affixed to the vehicle alone or may appear as a part of the vehicle options and price
label. The following information appears on the vehicle label:
- The city fuel consumption in litres-per-100 kilometres and in miles-per-gallon.
- The highway fuel consumption in litres-per-100 kilometres and in miles-per-gallon.
- The estimated annual fuel cost, based on an annual
distance travelled of 20 000 km, with 55 percent city and 45 percent highway driving
and a basic fuel price in cents-per-litre. The fuel prices for regular gasoline,
premium gasoline and diesel fuel are established each year by Natural Resources
Canada.
- Statements describing sources of data, testing methods and how to obtain a copy of the Fuel Consumption Guide.
