With Canada's vast northern territory, the sunrise and sunset times differ depending on the time of year and where you are in the country. Northern latitudes have greater extremes than Southern latitudes. The most northern city in Canada, Iqaluit, Nunavut for example experiences nearly 20 hrs of darkness during winter solstice and 21 hours of daylight during summer solstice.

The National Research Council of Canada's Sunrise/Sunset Calculator can help you find the sunrise and sunset times for any day of the year for the community nearest you.

You can also use the chart below to approximate the time at which the sun rises and sets in your area depending on the time of year. One hour has been added where Daylight Saving Time is effective.
