Health and Environment Ministers
of the Americas Meeting

March 4-5, 2002 Ottawa, Canada

Acting upon a commitment made by our leaders at the Summit of the Americas held in Quebec City in April of 2001, Ministers of Health and Environment and Heads of delegations from the 34 democratically elected governments of the Americas, will meet in Ottawa, on March 4-5, 2002, with the active participation and expertise of PAHO and UNEP. The objectives of the meeting are to take stock of progress achieved in implementing the Pan American Charter on Health and Environment in Sustainable Human Development, to identify priority areas for renewed emphasis and cooperative initiatives, and to explore ways of moving the environmental health agenda forward in the Americas and globally, with a view to contributing to the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development.

Materials related to this Ministerial will be added to this site as they become available.
