Tariff Notice - TN-15

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) would like to inform you of the following changes to the 2006 Departmental Consolidation of the Customs Tariff, as contained in the T2006-3 Amendment Package.

  • Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Finance, pursuant to section 31 of the Customs Tariff, hereby makes the annexed Order Amending the Schedule to the Customs Tariff, (Extension of Most-Favoured-Nation Tariff to East Timor). P.C. 2006-187, SOR/2006-56.
    (Effective on April 6, 2006).

  • Whereas East Timor is a country that is a beneficiary of the Most-Favoured Nation Tariff under the Customs Tariff.

    And whereas the Governor in Council is of the opinion that East Timor is a developing country;

    Therefore, to extend entitlement to the General Preferential Tariff to all eligible goods that originate in East Timor, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Finance, pursuant to section 34(1)(a) of the Customs Tariff, hereby makes the annexed Order Amending the Schedule to the Customs Tariff, (Extension of General Preferential Tariff to East Timor). P.C. 2006-188, SOR/2006-57.
    (Effective on April 6, 2006).

  • Whereas East Timor is a country that is a beneficiary of the General Preferential Tariff under the Customs Tariff.

    And whereas the Governor in Council is of the opinion that East Timor is a least developed country;

    Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Finance, pursuant to paragraph 38(1)(a) of the Customs Tariffa, hereby makes the annexed Order Amending the Schedule to the Customs Tariff, (Extension of Least Developed Country to East Timor). P.C. 2006-189, SOR/2006-58.
    (Effective on April 6, 2006).

  • Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Finance, pursuant to section 82 of the Customs Tariff, hereby makes the annexed Order Amending the Schedule to the Customs Tariff, 2006-2. P.C. 2006-304, SOR/2006-84.
    (Effective on May 4, 2006).

  • Whereas the Sultanate of Oman is a beneficiary of the Most-Favoured-Nation Tariff under the Customs Tariff.

    And whereas the Governor in Council is of the opinion that the Sultanate of Oman is a developing country;

    Therefore, to extend entitlement to the General Preferential Tariff to all eligible goods that originate in the Sultanate of Oman, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Finance, pursuant to paragraph 34(1)(a) of the Customs Tariff, hereby makes the annexed Order Amending the Schedule to the Customs Tariff, (Extension of General Preferential Tariff to the Sultanate of Oman). P.C. 2006-369, SOR/2006-90.
    (Effective on May 11, 2006).

  • Pursuant to Supplementary Note 1* to Section XI of the Customs Tariff-Schedule and P.C. 1997-2003 - Regulations Respecting the Customs Duty Payable on Woollen Fabrics Originating in Commonwealth Countries.
    (Effective on July 1, 2006 and ending on June 30, 2007).

These changes will be reflected in the Customs Commercial System (CCS) and on the CBSA website on June 30, 2006. As for the Wool Rate changes, they will be available on July 1, 2006.
