Financial Considerations

12.1 Canada and Nova Scotia are committed to the full utilization of their respective labour market programming funds for the benefit of Nova Scotians.

12.2 In this context, on an annual basis, Canada will make every effort to ensure that the full allocation for employment benefits and support measures under Part II of the Employment Insurance Act is utilized each year in Nova Scotia.

12.3 In addition, Canada will make every effort to expend the total allocation available in Nova Scotia for the Transitional Jobs Fund.

12.4 To this end, Canada and Nova Scotia will collaborate through the Management Committee in the design and identification of active employment initiatives to achieve this objective.

12.5 Where it is practical, and affordable, Canada and Nova Scotia agree to explore opportunities to support technology initiatives. There is particular interest in exploring system connectivity supported by designated federal funding for this purpose.

12.6 The signing of this agreement does not obligate Canada or Nova Scotia to make any specific expenditures related to the administration of the agreement other than those required to support the operation of the Management Committee.
