PEI School Library Selection Lists
Introduction

The PEI School Library Selection Lists database contains recommended books for school library collections for grades 1 to 12. The database is limited to books but includes both English and French language titles. Most of the books have been suggested by teacher-librarians and curriculum consultants but other librarians have also contributed titles. Included in the database are lists from recent capital construction school projects. Because the records were extracted from Provincial Library Service order records information is not available for all fields. Also included in the database are a few shorter lists and individual titles with more complete information.

You can search the database by title, author, or subject/theme. Also, you can browse the database by these fields as well as by school, level or publisher. Titles can be saved in a list which you can print and send to the Provincial Library as a book order. As you add titles to your saved list the total cost of the books is tallied for you. We invite you to suggest titles you selected for your school library or books used to support specific curriculum-related themes. There is a template to complete with the necessary information. Your suggestions will be evaluated and when approved added to the database. Please share your work and tell others about the books you found useful in your school.

The PEI School Library Selection Lists database is a project of the Ad Hoc Selection Committee of the School Library Committee. This committee, which operates under the English Programs Division of the Department of Education, has representation from the French Programs and Services Division of the Department of Education, the Eastern School District, the Western School Board, La Commission Scolaire de Langue Française and the Provincial Library Service. Please direct comments or questions about this database to Carol Fitzpatrick, Resource-Based Learning Consultant, e-mail: cafitzpatrick@gov.pe.ca or telephone: 368-4633.

Warning: some of these lists are very long and may take some time to load. Please be patient. Once the lists are loaded, you can search them by keyword using your browser's Find command. In Netscape, this is Ctrl + F.
