The Road Map to the Future outlines the key commitments from the 2003 National Rural Youth Conference, and next steps to be taken by the Government of Canada in partnership with youth.

Seek input and advice from the National Rural Youth Network on Rural Dialogue activities, including the 2004 National Rural Conference, and on issues, policies and programs that impact youth.

Strengthen the National Rural Youth Network with the development of a work plan, budget, partnership strategy and Web site, in addition to a federal investment of $25,000.

Ensure the active participation of rural youth in Rural Dialogue activities across the country.

Identify partners, mentors and funding sources for community projects developed by youth through a pathfinding service provided by the Rural Secretariat.

Provide ongoing support and follow-up for community projects, including visits by the Secretary of State.

Recognize outstanding contributions of youth to rural communities with the Young Leaders in Rural Canada Awards.

Showcase selected youth community projects and success stories at the 2004 National Rural Conference.
