Regional Rural Teams

Since January 2000, Regional Rural Teams have been created in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, the Lower St. Lawrence, the Eastern Townships and Montérégie.

The Regional Rural Teams include representatives of federal departments and agencies, and members of the community. Each team is supported by a co-ordinator.

The teams develop action plans tailored to regional realities, consult with regional stakeholders and rally their support for common issues, mobilize federal players in the region, and disseminate information to rural communities and local stakeholders on federal services in rural areas.

The work done by the Regional Rural Teams has already proven successful. New initiatives have been developed thanks to improved knowledge of the federal programs available and improved co-ordination of the federal action.
