Community Action Program for Children - Public Health Agency of Canada

This Program is delivered through Health Canada regional offices to fund community groups to establish and deliver services that address the developmental needs of at risk children (0 - 6 years). Youth Employment Strategy - Government of Canada

Skills Link
helps young people who face more barriers to employment than others. They could be high school dropouts, single parents, Aboriginal youth, young persons with disabilities, youth in rural areas or recent immigrants.

helps secondary and post-secondary students find summer jobs.

Career Focus
helps post-secondary graduates develop advanced skills and find careers in their fields.

First Nations and Inuit Science and Technology Camp Program
The First Nations and lnuit Science and Technology Camp Program promotes science and technology as career choices by supporting science camps for First Nations and lnuit youth.
First Nations and Inuit Summer Student Career Placement Program
This program supports opportunities for career-related work experience and training to in-school First Nations and lnuit youth living on reserve or in recognized communities during the summer months.

First Nations and Inuit Youth Work Experience Program The program funds proposals from First Nations and Inuit governments and organizations to provide supervised work experience for out-of-school unemployed youth in community service, community businesses or other work experience that will contribute to their employability.

CAP Youth Initiative (YI) - Industry Canada

The Community Access Program (CAP) Youth Initiative (YI) aims to provide employment opportunities for young Canadians between the ages of 15 and 30-primarily students, recent graduates, or the under-employed or unemployed. Participants (youth 15-30) work as interns at CAP centre's throughout Canada, helping individuals, community organizations and small businesses improve their knowledge and effective use of the Internet and related information technologies.

Annual and summer grants support community programs and services targeted toward vulnerable children, youth, and families. Manitoba Education, Citizenship and Youth - Hometown Green Team Program
This program provides summer employment for youth 16 to 24 years of age in rural Manitoba. The program includes work in the areas of park infrastructure, interpretive services, tourism promotion in Provincial Parks and other visitor-oriented natural areas, grounds improvement and back country cleanup on recreational routes.

Project "Place aux jeunes"
«Place aux jeunes» was started in 1989 in the hope of stopping the exodus of young graduates to big cities. Held over three weekends, the program brings together about 15 young people (18-35 years old) who originate from a given region. The program helps them discover the various facets of their region, allows them to meet participants in the local economy and invites them to imagine themselves and their future in that region.

Yukon

Youth Exploring Trades
Youth ages 12 to 15 attend week-long camps that explore the trades industry. Participants learn about the trades through construction of a go-cart which they build and later race. Other activities include tie-dying, mini-golf and recreation. Older students can apply to be camp instructors.

Youth Leadership Training
This program provides training for young people who want to be leaders. Participants work with young people from other Yukon communities and learn the skills involved in planning programs, writing proposals, working out conflicts, dealing with different types of behavior and administering First Aid.

Technical Knowledge Opportunities Program
This program provides funding for projects, seminars, or other forums for which the primary purpose or mandate is the provision of "training". Applicants may be committees of 4-H leaders, specific project groups, district, regional or provincial 4-H committees or councils or interprovincial project groups.

Agrium 4-H Youth Leadership Initiative Program
This program provides funding for 4-H projects being carried out by 4-H clubs, district, provincial councils or interprovincial committees. Funding is available for activities that meet at least one of the following objectives: skill development, rural leadership training.

Duke of Edinburgh's Award: Young Canadians Challenge
Designed to help young people develop a sense of responsibility in themselves and their community by expanding their horizons, the Award has evolved into one of the most comprehensive individual development, self-training and personal achievement programmes in the world. The Programme is open to all young people between the ages of 14 and 25 and is made up of four sections: Community Service, Skills Development, Physical Fitness, Expeditions and Explorations.

Society for Educational Visits and Exchanges in Canada (SEVEC)
